Songbyrd, 2475 18th St NW, Washington, Washington, DC

A group of notable musicians from across the country comes together for this special showcase!

What is JIVE? JIVE is what JIVE does. JIVE. It's an act. It's an attitude and description. It's a form of expression birthed from the jazz era.

"Donuts and JIVE," is an intersection of 4 cities, 4 artists, and two styles of music: hip hop and jazz. Chicago native and 2019 DC Jazz Festival performer, Dante' Pope is collaborating with Zo!, a Detroit native, Producer/Trumpeter-Pianist Dre King of Gary, Indiana and Producer Slim Cat of Washington, DC. The show will fuse music of record producer and rapper, J Dilla and the mother of all the "JIVE." Jazz.

Grammy nominated percussionist and vocalist, Dante' Pope, has collaborate with a variety of artists; grammy award winner Dom Flemons, soul sensation Raheem DeVaughn & Wes Felton as a part of The Crossrhodes featured on NPR's Tiny Desk. His bandmates and inspirations, Zo!, Dre King and Slim Cat, have collectively worked with a host of luminaries such as; Foreign Exchange, Slum Village, Anthony David, Phonte, Bilal Silam, Sy Smith, YahZarah, Eric Roberson and a host of many others.

This collaboration is a head boppin', grit faced stone groove. Ain't no JIVIN' about that.
